Genealogy of Eresos, Lesvos

Our compatriot, Charalampos Kl. Demiris, a retired Bank Manager of the National Bank of Greece, has been collecting for several years now material regarding the genealogy and the various clans and families of Eresos, Lesvos for the purpose of publishing the book titled ‘The Genealogy of Eresos, 150 years (1850-2000)’.

His objective is to freeze in time the information regarding our roots so that it may be preserved and not be lost due to the shifting of the population and changing demographics which are unavoidable with the passage of time. In the future this material may form the basis of research on the subjects of demographics and sociology of our birthplace, Eresos, Lesvos.

This information was derived from the official registries of the Municipality of Eresos and from live interviews of its residents. Up until now the author has collected information regarding 380 ‘clans’ of Eresos, or 8.983 individuals, 5.549 spouses and 13.236 children, in addition to several old family photographs.
